Learn for fun or follow a more formal exam based course of study taking you to grade 8, DipABRSM or ALCM and beyond with the ABRSM and LCM, plus specialist preparation for scholarships etc. All ages catered for from 5 - 70+ Beginners a speciality!

Regular concerts and master classes are held through the year plus competition and touring opportunities. Students benefit from regular classes with world famous Professor David Watkins. Students compete in the Urdd, National and International Eisteddfods,  Festival of  Music for Youth, plus many more local festivals, concerts etc.

Join The Derbyshire Harp Ensemble or Junior Harpz, we meet weekly for juniors and on the first Sunday of the month in Burton on Trent for the full ensemble. Weekly rehearsals take place on Zoom.

Harp Lessons are also available on FACETIME - have your lesson in your own home, Zoom students  achieved distinctions across all grades via LCM digital exams. Practise is tracked via the Tonara platform.

Former students have gone on to RNCM, The Purcell School, Menuhin School and The Royal Academy of Music and both Oxford and  Cambridge universities. Students have been placed in national and international competitions.

Trial Lesson £15.00 including your own copy of the Adventurer 20 harp method to take home with you.
Half Hour Lesson £20.00
One Hour Lesson £40.00

Students start on our Adventurer 20 harps supplied at a preferential rate to eliminate the need for costly rental etc this can be organised once the student knows that they would like to continue lessons.

             

                                         

 

MISSED LESSONS Terms and Conditions of Contract.
Any lesson missed or cancelled by the Student within 24 hours shall be paid for in full.

GENERAL NOTES
a) The Student/Parent/Guardian agrees to pay for any music/strings/repairs etc. required by the Student and provided by the Teacher.
b) The Student/Parent/Guardian will be responsible for any loss or damage incurred to any instrument, accessory or music loaned by the Teacher to the Student. Such items will be returned on request to the Teacher.
c) The Student/Parent/Guardian undertakes not to make photocopies of any music.
d) The Student will not enter any examination, festival, competition or otherwise perform in public without first consulting the Teacher. The Teacher will not enter the Student for any examination/festival etc. without the approval of the Student/Parent/Guardian. Any entry fees for examinations/festivals etc. will be paid by the Student/Parent/Guardian.
e) The Student/Parent/Guardian is responsible for the insurance of the Student’s instrument.
f) In the interests of the Student’s well-being whilst in the Teacher’s care, the Teacher must be informed of any medical or other condition affecting the Student.
g) If the Student is under the age of eighteen (18), the Parent/Guardian shall ensure a responsible adult is present on the premises and within earshot of the Student for the duration of each lesson.

 The amount of practise required by our exam board the ABRSM per grade to pass its exams - it is 15 mins per grade per day, so at grade 1 15 mins but by grade 8 2 hours a day.
Grade 5 is the equivalent of a GCSE.

"It is important to note that whilst a teacher will use her best endeavours to ensure the student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed. In particular, careful practise as advised by the Teacher is a prerequisite of success in any musical instrument or in any musical endeavour"
