Nine Sea Shanties for the Adventurer 20 or Discovery 16

Shanties were labour songs sung by sailors of the Merchant Service while at work only and never by way of recreation. They were never used in the men o war where all orders were carried out in silence to the pipe of the Bo’sun’s whistle.

This book is designed so that beginner harpists playing small harps can play
well known sea shanties alone or together with friends and have fun.

All the songs have lyrics included, singing is a great way to begin aural training and perception, it also helps to develop self confidence.

I have included fingering on all but 2 of the pieces. I have used the comma ‘ to indicate  where fingering groups end and the player should come off the strings and close  into the palm of the hand.

Everything in the right hand parts can be played by total beginners with just finger 2 if required.

Chords are supplied so that teachers can create their own accompaniments for  their students and more advanced harpists can create more intricate accompaniments. Friends on other instruments can also use the chords etc guitar.
